Moped and E-Bike Operation on Malham Road SE23 27/02/2026

Targeted stop site improves safety on Malham Road SE23.

Over 2.5 hours on Friday 27 February 2026, officers from Crofton Park Ward Team worked with Traffic Command, Road Deaths Reduction Team (RDRT) , Vehicle Recovery & Examination Services (VRES), Transport for London and Immigration Enforcement Officers to run a traffic stop site on Malham Road. Upwards of 200 vehicles were stopped.

This resulted in: 5 arrests, 20 vehicle seizures, 24 traffic offence reports (TORs) for a varierty of Traffic Offences, 2 PG9 prohibitions Notices for dangerous vehicle faults and 3 stop and searches. TfL also recovered in excess of £1500 in unpaid fines.

The operation focused on improving road safety, tackling dangerous/illegal riding and ensuring riders and vehicles are compliant with current law. Most riders were respectful and law‑abiding and where offences were identified, proportionate action was taken.

A special mention goes to PC Stephanie Morris (Crofton Park Ward) who led and coordinated the day.

Given the success of this pilot, I am keen to run further joint operations in a couple of months time at another location either on Crofton Park or adjoining Wards, watch this space.
